The NYU Steinhardt Teacher Residency combines the comprehensive instruction of a master’s degree from a world-renowned research university with deep partnerships in schools and districts across the country.
San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) is the seventh-largest school district in California, educating over 57,000 students every year. Richly diverse, with 44 languages spoken, the district employs a liberal and progressive approach to education, including equity-centered, culturally responsive teaching and curriculum.
With our Teacher Residency, everything is about community. Being a highly skilled educator is important work. It’s also hard work that requires a community of people dedicated to helping you succeed in the classroom.
In just one year, you can earn a Master of Arts in Teaching. While immersing into a school community, you are surrounded by multiple layers of support from your fellow teacher residents, in-school mentors, and NYU Steinhardt faculty. We’re committed to helping you build the skills needed to be an active member of your community and effectively serve all students.
NYU Steinhardt and its partner schools are also committed to affordability. We offer generous support to ensure our Residency is affordable to applicants from diverse backgrounds.
