The NYU Teacher Residency combines the comprehensive instruction of a master’s degree from a world-renowned research university with deep partnerships in schools and districts across the country.

School District of Philadelphia (SDP) is the eighth largest school district in the nation, investing in this unique type of teacher preparation program to put a great teacher in every classroom. SDP prepares strong educators to commit to the growth of all students. School leaders and teachers work tirelessly to ensure students have access to great schools right in their own neighborhoods.

With our Teacher Residency, everything is about community. Being a highly skilled educator is important work. It’s also hard work that requires a community of people dedicated to helping you succeed in the classroom.

In just one year, you can earn a Master of Arts in Teaching. While immersing into a school community, you are surrounded by multiple layers of support from your fellow teacher residents, in-school mentors, and NYU Steinhardt faculty. We’re committed to helping you build the skills needed to be an active member of your community and effectively serve all students.

NYU Steinhardt and its partner schools are also committed to affordability. We offer generous support to ensure our Residency is affordable to applicants from diverse backgrounds.
