My name is Malik Sollas and I am born and raised in Brooklyn. I received my undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Development from The University at Buffalo. Since my teenage years I knew I wanted to work with children in any capacity. I have worked in the field of education for over 12 years in a variety of roles and look to make a positive impact on all of the young people I come in contact with.
What about the residency are you most looking forward to?
I am looking forward to learning from some of the best to have worked in this profession and grow my skill set as an educator.
Did you have a teacher who made a lasting impression on you?
A teacher that left a lasting impression on me was my high school dance teacher Ms. Deveaux. Ms. Deveaux instilled confidence and self esteem in me when I was not able to see them for myself. As a young man of color she allowed me to express myself through dance when traditionally men did not have that avenue of expression.
