I am from Westchester, New York. I am currently an Earth Science Education Major at the University of Delaware with minors in Coastal and Marine Geoscience and Geography. For 2 summers during my undergrad, I was a camp counselor for 5th grade girls at Sunrise Day Camp. The camp is a nonprofit where kids with cancer and their siblings go to day camp entirely for free. That job was a highlight of my college experience. During the semesters, I would spend a lot of time doing community service and participating in the leadership program on campus!
What about the residency are you most looking forward to?
I am looking forward to getting that hands-on experience in the classroom, developing my teaching style, and having a mentor to help guide me through the entire process. I know this program will give me a ton of new skills to become the best teacher I can possibly be, and I am so excited to embark on this journey.
Did you have a teacher who made a lasting impression on you?
Their genuine and caring personality, and how because of that they were able to make the classroom a safe space for me. I was able to explore who I was as a teenager and not have to worry about judgement from anyone else. It helped me learn and grow a lot as a person and as a student.
