I am a recent graduate of Sewanee: The University of the South and an outdoor enthusiast. I love running, biking, hiking, climbing, canoeing, and swimming. As an Ohio native, I also enjoy the snow and can be seen outside in any weather. I graduated college with a major in English and am passionate about literature and creative writing. Some of my favorite books are “Beloved” by Toni Morrison and “Educated” by Tara Westover.
What about the residency are you most looking forward to?
The opportunity to learn from experienced faculty thrills me. As a recent graduate from college, I crave the experience and practical learning objectives exemplified by this residency. Since graduating from Western Reserve Academy, a boarding school in Hudson, Ohio, I am continually reminded of the incredible impact of place-based education. Importantly, learning extends beyond desks. From sports fields to wooded trails, I believe that place is a crucial teacher.
Did you have a teacher who made a lasting impression on you?
My high school English teachers had an incredible impact on me. They were my mentors and heroes, and I looked forward to going to class each day. Through books and discussion, they taught me how to see the world differently and care about people deeply.
