My name is Emmet Battenberg, I grew up in Clintonville, a small town in Wisconsin about an hour west of Green Bay. I graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a degree in English in 2018. I have had small writing jobs and have been substitute teaching since then. I love film, especially horror and I like to read, cook, play basketball and travel. I am a big sports fan and love the Packers, Brewers, Badgers and Bucks. I am super excited to get to know everyone and live in Washington DC. I visited once when I was in middle school and loved the city. I can’t wait to meet everyone in person!
What about the residency are you most looking forward to?
I am looking forward to getting to know the kids the most. Building relationships with students and faculty are my favorite part of education. I am also excited to get to know and explore the city.
Did you have a teacher who made a lasting impression on you?
I spent a lot of time at an elementary school in Des Moines and the principal there was one of the best educators I have ever known. She had an incredible ability to connect with kids while also remaining an authority figure. She was respected and loved by all the kids in her school and had an individual relationship with almost all of them. She is truly a special person.
