Hello, my name is Dante Rodriguez and I am a self-proclaimed lover of all sorts of literature. I graduated from Hofstra University with a bachelors in American and English Literature. Also, I graduated from Brooklyn College with my second bachelors in history and literature. I am a mac and cheese aficionado. I don’t care what kind of cheese is used (though I do prefer some over others). Also, I don’t care about the noodle, but some noodles cradle the cheese or the sauce better than others. I’m just saying that I like mac and cheese. Please do not take my love for mac and cheese as I am a cook; I am not. Most of all, I am from Brownsville.
What about the residency are you most looking forward to?
I am looking forward in the residency program to advocate for students with disabilities to have teachers who understand their situations and are equipped to work with such students effectively, while collaborating with other teachers to help them achieve success in an accessible and equitable education. Also, I am in excited to see my middle schoolers in Albany. Lastly, I am in excited to work with this cohort to gain new friends as teachers.
Did you have a teacher who made a lasting impression on you?
My high school English department had the greatest influence on me. For instance, Ms. Lotus taught me who I am as a person while improving my love for literature. Mrs. Frontany taught myself how literature can be mirrors, windows, and sliding doors. Mr. Martinez taught me how sarcasm and rhetoric is an effective way to communicate. Ms. Greene taught me how self-care is important.
