About Me

Hi! My name is Catherine Livingston but I mostly go by Cat. I’m from Watertown, NY but I was also a military kid so I’ve lived in many different places! I graduated last year from Hunter College with a degree in History and a minor in Women and Gender Studies. I briefly worked at Success Academy as a middle school History Teacher and I now work through the YMCA in my hometown as an Assistant Preschool Teacher. In my free time I love going on adventures with my girlfriend and hanging out with my two cats. I can’t wait to get to know everyone!

What about the residency are you most looking forward to?

I'm looking forward to learning more about how to best introduce my subject area to my students. I'm also excited to build relationships with not only my students, but my mentors and peers as well.

Did you have a teacher who made a lasting impression on you?

My fourth and fifth grade teacher Ms. Dermady had a huge impact on me. She always found ways to make the content we were learning about more real to us, whether it was having us act out the books we were reading in group projects, or taking us "protesting" for a cleaner river for our science class. She also stays connected with her students and to this day I can still rely on her for help.
