Located on the West Coast, SFUSD is the seventh-largest school district in California, educating over 57,000 students every year. Richly diverse, with 44 languages spoken, the district employs a liberal and progressive approach to education, including an equity-centered, culturally responsive teaching and curriculum.

At SFUSD, we believe that all students and families – of every race, language, and ethnicity, learning level, and ability – deserve the support and the resources they need to thrive. SFUSD believes the achievement gap is the greatest civil rights issue facing the district, and it’s possible to increase academic achievement of high-performing students and accelerate the achievement of those currently less academically successful. SFUSD is committed to reducing the predictability factors that have historically correlated with success so that every student who enrolls in an SFUSD school will graduate prepared to succeed in college, career, and life.

SFUSD teachers have a strong desire to work in an urban setting and truly believe that being an educator is a social justice mission. Successful early adopters of the teacher residency model, SFUSD has a robust teacher induction program to help support your preparation for success and your drive to change lives.
