Hey, I’m Rob, from Bay Shore, New York. After studying English Literature at Columbia University, I decided to spend a year working in Cordoba, Spain as a Teaching Assistant. I learned a lot about myself over there (and a heck of a lot about Spanish), and decided teaching was the next step for me. When I’m not working, I like to jog, read old books, and hang out with my dog, Mia.
What about the residency are you most looking forward to?
I'm looking forwards to getting to give back to NYC, where I've spent much of my adult life, and to get to contribute to its communities in a positive way. I'm especially excited to get to know the students I'll be working with in the coming year, and to see what excites and interests them.
Did you have a teacher who made a lasting impression on you?
Mr. Sullivan encouraged my love of literature and language, which continues to engage and occupy me to this day. He also introduced me to one of my favorite poets, Seamus Heaney, who was from Ireland, where my family lived before they came to America.
