I was born and raised in New York City, I have always loved it here but definitely want to leave the craziness. I currently have a BA in Mathematics, which is surprising to many people.I want continue expanding my knowledge of math but also want to teach it, that’s why I am pursuing a degree in Adolescence Education in Math. I used to work at a chocolate store in Times Square and then as a teaching fellow in a middle school. Those were the places where I learned how to interact with both children and adults, and realized that my true passion is to help people in any way I can.
What about the residency are you most looking forward to?
I'm excited to learn all the best teaching practices for sure. I'm also excited to learn how to teach the material properly to students. I can't wait to create relationships with students, staff members, and my mentors. I know residency is going to be a space where I will be able to apply what I learn from my courses to the classroom and be able to learn from my mistakes, which is such an amazing opportunity.
Did you have a teacher who made a lasting impression on you?
I had tutored in my college library in my freshmen year of college and it was a great experience. I had a few students that always came to me and I loved helping them understand whatever they were struggling with in math.
