About Me

Hi everyone, my name is Brittney. I am a true Brooklynite because I was born and raised in Brooklyn. Some interesting facts about me are that I went to Penn State for three years and I transferred to SUNY New Paltz to obtain my degree in education. During my time at New Paltz, I’ve joined an acting club. I was a bit nervous because I’ve never done acting a day in my life. However, I enjoyed my time in the organization, and it has helped me with my nerves when speaking in front of people. Since then, I have been teaching for the past three years and I look forward to beginning my new chapter at New York University.

What about the residency are you most looking forward to?

During my time in the Residency program, some of the things that I am looking forward to is building my skills for me to become an effective teacher. I am also excited to network with my fellow peers that share a similar interest n education. Throughout this year, I have been constantly stepping out of my comfort zone by trying new things. I am looking forward to continuing that process at NYU.

Did you have a teacher who made a lasting impression on you?

Growing up, I've experienced teachers who did not care about being in the field of education. All of this changed as I entered my seventh-grade class in social studies, and I met the teacher that changed my life. Mr. Cusumano was an outstanding educator because he viewed me as an individual. He taught my class with humor which tied back into the materials and it changed my perception of education.
