I am a native of Brooklyn, New York, and am married with two children. I recently obtained my undergraduate degree from Medgar Evers College with a BA in English with a concentration in professional writing. While I have no professional experience in my field, I am excited for the opportunity to grow academically. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, spending time with my family, and working on business ventures. My husband and I launched a clothing line, Free the Souls Clothing, LLC in June 2019, and work daily to spread our message of positivity through our brand.
What about the residency are you most looking forward to?
Being a part of this residency, I am excited to broaden my understanding and application of the English language through the completion of challenging assignments. I am also looking forward to growing in my academia and as a person through the new experiences that this program will expose me to.
Did you have a teacher who made a lasting impression on you?
While working on my senior thesis, my mentor, Dr. Susan Fischer, challenged my thinking and the way that I approached my writing. She remained patient and compassionate with me through the many challenges that I encountered while working on my thesis. I am grateful for her wisdom, guidance, and mentorship.
