I am an amazing saxaphone player. I used to be a basketball player in high school. I also love to cook and have dedicated my life to living as minimally as possible.

About Me

My name is Alyssa. I am originally from Los Angeles, CA. I received a Bachelor’s of Science in mathematics at Jacksonville University in Florida this year. I have worked very many jobs including customer service work in call centers, tutoring, and hotels. My favorite color is pink and I could talk about math almost all day. With some breaks for tea and munchies.

What about the residency are you most looking forward to?

I'm most excited about learning how to effectively communicate the importance of a subject to my students. I want to be a guide for my students, so learning the best ways to teach and relate to them.

Did you have a teacher who made a lasting impression on you?

My advisor Dr. Ward made me realize the intelligence I had. She never made me feel stupid when I made mistakes and she has taken the time to get to know me so that when I do mess up, she can understand how to help me improve without making me feel incompetent or not good enough. It sounds small but is hyper effective when there are outside circumstances that are hindering my ability to focus.
