School District of Philadelphia Logo

Culturally rich and deeply diverse, School District of Philadelphia’s (SDP) mission is to deliver on the civil right of every child in the city to an excellent public school education and ensure all children graduate from high school ready to succeed, fully engaged as a citizen of our world.

SDP is the eighth largest school district in the nation, investing in this unique type of teacher preparation program to put a great teacher in every classroom.

SDP prepares strong educators to commit to the growth of all students. School leaders and teachers work tirelessly to ensure students have access to great schools right in their own neighborhoods. To accomplish this, the district strives to recruit new educators who believe in all students, value continuous learning, effectively form relationships and collaborate with families, exhibit perseverance and grit, and dedicate their practice to proven data-driven instructional strategies. In return, SDP provides vast opportunities for educators to reach great heights in their teaching and be part of securing a promising future for the city.

You will find a variety of supports to help become a teacher of record in SDP. Your support does not stop there; once you complete your residency and move into a full-time role you’ll experience induction, new hire orientation, and a full year of coaching through the Peer Assistance and Review program.
